Martina undertook a comprehensive Landscape and Visual Appraisal to guide the development of 100 new homes on the western edge of Ramsey, Huntingdonshire. The assessment identified key visual sensitivities from the open countryside to the west, which directly informed the project’s design strategy.

In response, a robust landscape framework was developed that included strategic woodland planting to extend existing vegetation to the northwest, creating a natural transition between the development and rural edge. The urban layout was carefully configured to create an attractive landscaped approach into the site, while existing habitat boundaries were preserved and enhanced through a connected Green Infrastructure network.

This landscape-led approach was instrumental in securing planning approval for this unallocated site, demonstrating how sensitive landscape integration can successfully mediate between new development and its rural context.
