Kings High School, Warwick
Client: Bidwells for Corstorphine & Wright Architects
Permission was given for the creation of 118 new residential units on the former Kings High School site. This included the conversion of the 17th century, Grade II* listed, Landor House into a single-family unit along with the conversion of five other Grade II listed buildings and several non-designated heritage assets. The setting of surrounding assets, including the Grade I listed Warwick Castle and Registered Park and Garden as well as the East Gate and St Peter’s Chapel, and the attached section of town wall, were also assessed.
Kate’s input included heritage guidance and advice from the outset. Negotiations from an early stage with both the Council and Historic England were key to achieving permission for this scheme. Historic England praised the quality of the work undertaken by Kate which clearly identified the significance of the buildings and robustly assessed the impacts of the proposals.
