Seeking to more than double the size of its existing care facility the client’s objective was to create a purpose-built facility and upgrade the existing care home to modern standards.

The principal building is Grade II listed and as a result of the careful and considered approach to the design, including an automatic irrigated green wall, the proposed new build wing sat comfortably within the setting of the listed building and wider conservation area.

Kate worked closely with the design team, including the landscape designer, to ensure impacts on built heritage were appropriately dealt with. The scheme received a positive assessment by the planning committee, with an unanimous grant of planning permission and Listed Building Consent.
